Ruminations of an aging wannabe Biker

. Ruminations of an aging wannabe Biker. Hi Guys , I have for a very long time now, been thinking of sharing my thoughts and aspirations with all of you . For too long I have just sat on this thought and done nothing about it. In many ways the story of my life, until a few weeks back I just decided that enough is enough and I decided to act on this thought of mine , The result is the article below. There comes a defining stage in every one’s life, wherein, one single incident or news could trigger off a stream of thoughts, a wave of emotions and then suddenly the finiteness of life hits you. This happened to me a few months back and I sat down on a Saturday morning staring vacantly out the window as my thoughts culminated in a stroll down Memory lane. Let ‘s start at the very beginning , A very good place to start ( As per Julia Andrews in Sound of Music), I remember more than 4 decades ago in my teenage (I can heat the gears clicking in your head as you do the...

Musings of a weary traveller

I peer bleary eyed through the window as the Jet swoops down on earth, majestically like a giant metal bird and lands on the tarmac with a muted screech of burning rubber and reverse thrust. Walking through another magnificent edifice of glass and steel, more glass than steel to be precise, that passes of for airports these days, I look around me and wonder how much things have changed. Airports these days are gleaming structures with every facility you can dream of and some that you can’t. Most of the latest structures have taken hygiene to an all new level and are virtually sterile. While people travel together, they don’t even seem to realise that they are. Most of them are bawling into are being bawled at through the ultimate wonder of modern communication – the   mobile phone , depending on their position in the corporate pecking order. If not, they are busy catching up on their mail vide the magic of the black berry, Women are making a serious dent in the bank...

Do you want to play God ?

Do you want to play God ? Recent tragic events in Europe, post the Wuhan virus pandemic, have brought to fore, the oft repeated challenge that mankind has faced since time immemorial. Confronted with shortage of critical medical equipment, health care professionals are having to make the most difficult choice and decide as to, who gets offered the scarce medical facility /Equipment , the in severe demand medical attention first and therefore who gets to live. While not in the bit being envious, of those having to make such painful decisions, I have always contemplated how the situation would play out. When scarce medical resources have to be apportioned, normally, I am given to understand that age would be a deciding factor. However, what if, for instance, there were more than one person of the same age. Would gender be a deciding factor, would financial status, race, colour help the roll of the dice one way or the other. Historically this has played out in war fie...

The Unsung Hero

THE UNSUNG HERO Another evening getting back from office as I am stuck in one of those absolutely reasonless traffic jams, I ponder over the madness that awaits me at home. Every TV ,well almost every TV in the country is dishing out the IPL mania these days and will continue to do so till sanity returns in about 4 weeks time.. Half way through the tournament I realize that this IPL has reinforced one interesting aspect of life .Irrespective of the stage in life ,or the format of the game in this case, the fundamentals prerequisite for success do not change     Since time immemorial the world has always favoured extraordinary talent over perseverance, flamboyance over persistence and sporadic brilliance over dependability. While only a fortunate   few are blessed with the former virtues , the majority of us lesser mortals have to make do with what we have and compensate with other attributes within our control in our endeavour to excel in whatever professions...
